Deere & Co. dropped its planned acquisition of Monsanto Co.’s Precision Planting LLC on Monday, just a month before the U.S. Department of Justice’s suit to block the deal over concerns that the combination would harm the more than $1 billion market for high-speed precision planting systems was set to go to trial.
