I am part of a team building a outdoors gear rental marketplace. I am exploring payment options and would like to hear what this community recommends for this sort of platform. Gear owners can place their gear for rent. Users can then rent their gear. Ideally, we would want users to be charged when they book to rent gear. Then on the day of the rental, a payout for the total booking would be sent to the gear owner. I have looked into Stripe Connect and Braintree Marketplace, but what I am not understanding is if it is possible for us to hold funds until after the gear rental booking date begins, and then payout to the owner. And by holding funds until the booking begins, are we considered a money transmitter, subject to money transmitter regulations and licensing? Would appreciate any suggestions on this matter.
