This is a very basic question about trading earnings. MTSI had their Q1 earnings call today after market close, and they beat EPS and Revenue earnings slightly. Not only that but they were up from last quarter and following a nice upwards earnings trend YOY.
Why then, did the price drop 8%+ after hours? Shouldn’t it have spiked instead, being a healthy stock that beat estimates?
I understand this is probably a naiive question, but I am trying to understand what drives market reactions to earnings performance.
