Break-up with Co-founder – Update and Advice Needed

http://ift.tt/eA8V8J

About a month ago I posted this thread for advice on how to break-up with my co-founder: http://ift.tt/2mcqNZI

I talked to a few lawyers about drafting up a simple document that would be about $500 (or about 1.5 hours of lawyer hours). Otherwise if things get too complicated costs really ramp up to $2000+ where we will both need our own lawyers. The latter is unnecessary in my opinion.

The lawyer suggested that I first have to talk to my partner and he suggested I e-mail him so that is in writing and from there discuss things in person. Here’s what I did:

  • 1) I sent the partner an initial e-mail proposing he buy me out. He replied with a text saying he needs to think about things and will reply when he is ready.

  • 2) I saw him in person a couple of days later and tried to talk to him. He walked away from me without saying anything.

  • 3) After almost 2 weeks of zero contact I sent him a follow up e-mail. No reply and no contact.

  • 4) It has now been over 2 weeks and still no contact.

I’m not sure what steps I should take (if any) or do I just wait it out? I honestly have no idea where he stands – if he wants to buy me out or if he would prefer that I buy him out. He just won’t communicate with me which is frustrating. Does anyone have any suggestions/advice? Perhaps I’m pushing things too quickly?

Edit: To make the time line more clear.
