From half-timbered manor to squatter’s tiny cottage, conservation charity Save to publish its latest catalogue of at-risk buildings
They are the ultimate in fixer-uppers. Some of the saddest buildings in Britain, including derelict former pubs, a military gatehouse which has lost its barracks, a swimming pool, a church gutted by fire, a coastguard’s watch tower, and a former dermatology hospital, are seeking sympathetic buyers who have the courage and resources to give the properties a new lease of life.
The Up My Street catalogue will be published later in June by the conservation charity Save and lists hundreds of such buildings, some of which have broken the spirit and the bank of previous would-be saviours.

This question has bothered me for days. If, on average, returns are greater than the rate of inflation, why do investors so commonly end up with significant losses or net-zero returns?
Is it a matter of perception? Is it that the average investor actually does have a positive RoI, but I’m more likely to hear about those who lose?

I have absolutely no formal trading experience or training, yet I am currently making a 36% annual return on investment (I understand this to be a really high annual return considering a standard fixed deposit is normally <10%p.a.) in my stock simulator portfolio. I am currently invested in Apple, Nvidia and Alphabet. These investments seem really obvious, any idiot could do this. Why is my return so good?
