Who Says Malls Are Dying?

http://ift.tt/eA8V8J

The American shopping mall is dying. Or is it?

While thousands of retail outlets are closing across the country as customers shift purchases online and a recent study said a quarter of American malls may shut in the next five years, the developer of the mammoth “Mall of America” is doubling down. More than doubling, actually.

Canada’s Triple Five Worldwide Group wants to build a 6 million square foot complex in Miami – the biggest in the country. They aren’t completely bonkers, it seems. Rather than focusing on retail, the company’s president said that their focus is “retail-tainment,” according to the Associated Press.

The facility would be more like an amusement park with an indoor ski slope, a submarine ride and theaters. Oh, and if you need to do some shopping, they may have a few places to do that too.
