An anonymous bidder paid just shy of $2.7 million Friday to enjoy a power lunch with billionaire investor Warren Buffett.
The annual auction, which benefits Glide Foundation, a San Francisco charity, was held on eBay’s website. The winner could almost be said to have got a bargain, with this year’s top bid of $2.68 million is down from the $3.46 million bid that won last year’s auction and tied a record, according to Bloomberg.
In its 18th year, the annual auction for lunch with the chairman of Berkshire Hathaway Inc. (BRK) (BRK) has raised around $25 million for Glide, according to The Wall Street Journal. The charity provides meals, health care and other services to homeless and low-income people in San Francisco.
The winner can invite up to seven guests to join Buffett for lunch at New York steakhouse Smith & Wollensky
