Asking for Long Term Investment Portfolio Advice

http://ift.tt/eA8V8J

I have no experience with the market and was looking to setup a portfolio for long term investing and let it ride.

On Friday I took $4000 and grabbed some AAPL, MSFT, DIS, PEP, and KO. I was thinking of throwing another $1000 in this week to diversify a bit more and grab some V and PFE… since I see a lot of people mentioning financial and pharmaceuticals.

I believe these are decent investments with companies that aren’t going anywhere and should be good, but I thought I would ask for some input if others here have recommendations on stocks that I should buy. ( I see a lot of AMD and NVDA mentioned, but I also can’t tell if people are trolling about AMD, but buying a small amount of both shouldn’t hurt ?)

I don’t plan on day trading because I have no idea what I’m doing and probably have better odds on roulette, though I am tempted to put a small amount of cash on the side to toy with it. A bit of my background, I’m 27 and make a low six figure salary and mainly trying to secure a cushion for the future.

Thanks
