The accelerators AngelPad and Y Combinator came out on top of a 2017 study of U.S. accelerators by the Seed Accelerator Rankings Project.
The annual study is conducted by professors and researchers at Rice University, MIT and the University of Richmond, and more than 150 accelerator programs were examined.
The top two programs – AngelPad and Y Combinator – received a platinum plus designation.
Also in the platinum category were Alchemist, Amplify LA, MuckerLab, StartX, Techstars and the Chicago New Venture Challenge.
The rankings take into consideration a variety of metrics, including company valuations, company fundings, exits and an assessment of satisfaction from accelerator graduates.
Qualifying for the gold category were 500 Startups, gener8tor, HAX, Healthbox, IndieBio, MassChallenge, R/GA and SkyDeck.
The silver category included the Brandery, Capital Innovators, Dreamit, Plug and Play, Reach, the Yield Lab and Zero510.
In the bronze category were Accelerprise, AlphaLab, FoodX, Health Wildcatter, Lighthouse Labs, UpTech and XLR8UH.
