Start-Up Clothing Advice

http://ift.tt/eA8V8J

Me and a few of my friends have sort of made a “company” if you even want to call it that. We basically just started posting our nature / hiking photos online. Anyways, we got a logo made and we were basically joking about making clothing but now we feel like it would actually be a good idea. We have friends and family that said they’d buy it and we thought why not we might as well try and see how it goes, no harm in that.

Unfortunately we are still in high school and don’t really have enough funds to drop >$200 on something that we might not even know would work. We were thinking of starting with hats, but then expanding if it actually gains traction.

Does anyone know a place that would make custom embroidered hats for fairly cheap? Most places that I’ve looked at need a minimum of like $400 dollars spent or are around $15-20 each which leaves little room for profit.

On the other hand, my friend works at a clothing company which has a pretty high tech embroidery machine that he might be able to use, we’re thinking that might be more difficult and inconvenient but considering we’re not really a real company yet it might be our best bet. Let me know what you think.

Also, any advice going into the business world would be greatly appreciated, I’m planning on majoring in Business Administration once I get out of high school so I feel like that would help but any critique / advice would be awesome, I’m not sensitive so if we’re being dumb in trying this just let me know.

Thanks
