SMART Learning Objectives

When you’re considering creating learning objectives, start with the end in mind. What do you want them to achieve? What do you want them to be able to do by the end of the course, that they were not able to do before? Consider how you will measure it? A good guideline on creating learning objectives is to follow the SMART method. SMART acronym refers to Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic and Time-Bound.
The following are the essential things you should do in creating SMART Learning Objectives:
Use a Specific and Clear language Your Objectives
In drafting you learning objectives, make sure you have a clear and specific language that is easy to understand. This would ensure the learner a fast grasp of the lesson.
Create a Measurable Objective
When it comes to E-Learning process, make the learning objective is something you could measure. Make sure the learner would be able to perform and achieve it in the possible way he or she does.
Make the Lessons Achievable
You could do this by stating objectives that your e-learner students could achieve. This would pertain to lessons or activities having the right resources such as laptops, speakers or other learning gadgets.
Do a Relevant Approach to the Course Objectives
You should see to it the objectives you have stated could be used by the students. State its relevance to the present situation so that the students would not only gain knowledge but apply it as well.
Make the Objectives Time Bound
One of the best ways to achieve a SMART is to make learning objectives timely. In this way, you have sure way each if the students would complete in the right and effective possible way.
The SMART learning objectives differ from in-class learning objectives in terms of the process these are made. SMART learning objectives are much more patterned and organized compared to the in-class that focuses mainly on student classroom performance.
