I know it because I have decoded a large part of the occult book of Revelation. Most of the cerebral cortex is asleep at any one time. The memory cortex is organized like a tree and only one branch (cluster) of the tree is awake at any one time. When a branch (an olive branch in the ancient texts) is awakened, it remains so for a short time. The 12.6 seconds value comes from this passage in chapter 11, emphasis added:
Rev 11:3. And I will grant authority to my two witnesses, and they will prophesy for twelve hundred and sixty days, clothed in sackcloth.”
A “day” is code for the duration of a neuronal cycle, which is about 10 milliseconds. 1260 days is thus 12.6 seconds. This is how long the brain can keep its attention focused on one thing.
At the end of the 12.6 seconds, attention is terminated and the brain essentially goes into a very short coma lasting 35 milliseconds. I know this from the following verses:
Rev 11:7. When they have finished their testimony, the beast that comes up out of the abyss will make war with them, and overcome them and kill them.
Rev 11:11. But after the three and a half days, the breath of life from God came into them, and they stood on their feet;
“Three and a half days” represents 3.5 * 10 or 35 milliseconds. After this, attention is resurrected somewhere else when another branch (olive branch) of the memory hierarchy is awakened.
PS. There is a treasure trove of similar stuff in the ancient occult texts. You won’t find these values in any neuroscience book. This is a falsifiable prediction of my research, for the record only. Take it or leave it.
