Cyber security experts pointed out that North Korea may have connections with the recent WannaCry cyber attack which has infiltrated data in 200,000 computers in 150 nations last week.
On Monday, Kaspersky Lab and Symantec said that certain code in a previous version of the ransomware software had also been noticed in programs utilized by the Lazarus Group, which researchers from several entities have recognized as a hacking operation managed by North Korea.
But the two companies noted it was too soon to tell whether Pyongyang was involved in the assaults, according to the technical evidence released on Twitter by Google security researcher Neel Mehta.
The hacking incidents are considered one of the fastest-spreading fraudulent acts on file.
Kaspersky Lab and Symantec said they have to review the code thoroughly and asked the assistance of their fellow in analyzing it.
