The number of building consents issued for new dwellings in New Zealand rose 14.0 percent month-over-month to a seasonally adjusted 2605 in February of 2017, following an upwardly revised 2.1 percent increase in January. It was the highest increase since June of 2016. Excluding apartments, flats, and retirement village units, the number of consents for new houses went up 14.4 percent (from -4.4 percent in the previous month). Compared with the same month of the previous year, building consents increased 1.6 percent. Building Permits in New Zealand averaged 1911.12 from 1995 until 2016, reaching an all time high of 3469 in June of 2004 and a record low of 985 in January of 2009.
