Hi /r/startup. Being offered equity from two startups. What Questions/Finances I should ask and see for validation before joining one of them?

Hi /r/startup. I have two startups offering equity in exchange for coming on board their team to build out their marketing and content foundations. What finances or questions should I be asking or seeing before jumping on board? I understand there’s always risk associated with a new venture, but I want to avoid spending a few years of my life investing time and energy into a company that was doomed before I even came onboard. Basically, what does a healthy startup look like.
