Unroll.me was selling users’ data – now they’re “heartbroken” – what would you do?

Some background here: http://ift.tt/2oD9EJj

TLDR: NYT did this profile on Travis Kalanick and one of the biggest revelations was that Unroll.me a free service that unsubscribes you from unwanted email – was actually selling data from their users’ emails, specifically: selling Lyft receipts to Uber 😀

Then they published this blog post that immediately backfired so I guess my question is – what the hell would you do if you were Unroll.me’s CEO?

And do you think it’s ethical to do this kind of data selling? Like, I get if they were selling data for marketing purposes or whatever but this is fairly evil.
