Side business is growing, and will be bringing on employees/partners. Have some questions.

I have a small operation, it used to be just myself, lately I have been bringing in a guy or two, and contract some work out to other guys. However, I am going to be bringing on a guy as a partner. He will not be my employee, we will be partners in the business, and we will share the workload. My question, is if this is going to cost me big? What are the regulations when you have two people working for the same business? Will I need to start paying all kinds of workman’s comp insurance and all that? It will just be the two of us, partners in the business. Thanks
