SALT LAKE CITY–(BUSINESS WIRE)–On Saturday, April 22, nearly 7,500 Comcast

NBCUniversal
employees and their families, friends and community

partners volunteered at 14 schools and community organizations around

Utah as part of the 16th annual Comcast

Cares Day
.

Comcast Cares Day is more than just a day – it’s the culmination of

Comcast NBCUniversal’s commitment to volunteerism that began when the

company was founded more than 50 years ago. From using technology to

create positive change, such as wiring community centers and libraries

and teaching digital literacy skills, to mentoring youth, to beautifying

parks, Comcast NBCUniversal employees volunteer on this day, and

throughout the year, to make a lasting impact. This year, more than

100,000 volunteers participated in approximately 900 projects across the

country and around the world. To date, volunteers have contributed

nearly 5 million volunteer hours at 7,700 projects since Comcast Cares

Day began in 2001.

Utah projects ranged from cleaning and improving the Palmer Court

subsidized apartments and sorting donated supplies for the Road Home in

Salt Lake City to helping to build an outdoor amphitheater at the Walden

School for Liberal Arts in Provo to installing a new Frisbee course by

Fort Buenaventura in Ogden.

“As we celebrate our 16th annual Comcast Cares Day, we are so

proud to partner with these important organizations to give back in our

community,” said Merlin Jensen, Comcast vice president of technical

operations. “It’s truly amazing what’s possible when thousands of

volunteers donate their time to make a difference in the lives of

others. I’m inspired by the community’s response to Comcast Cares Day,

and am so thankful for the participants who help to make this effort a

success today and throughout the year.”

“We want to extend our gratitude and excitement to the Comcast Cares Day

volunteers for this amazing opportunity to improve the look and

condition of our buildings,” said Michelle Flynn, associate executive

director of programs for The Road Home. “The work of these volunteers

would take us years to accomplish on our own, and we will be forever

grateful.”

Comcast Cares Day projects also included work for these community

organizations:

  • Highland High School in Salt Lake City
  • Boys and Girls Club of Greater Salt Lake
  • Cyprus High School in Magna
  • Redwood Elementary in West Valley City
  • YWCA Utah
  • University of Utah Lowell Bennion Community Service Center
  • Neighborhood House in Salt Lake City
