At the very beginning of 2017, many stocks seemed to be promising assets to buy, but their performance during the first quarter ended up being disappointing. One of those that fell short of analysts’ expectations is Nvidia Corporation (NASDAQ:NVDA). The promising results during the last quarter of 2016, such as 19.3% earnings increase and 55% sales growth, deluded traders into believing that this stock will be a rewarding investment in 2017 as well. However, since the beginning of the current year, the trend took a downward direction, falling 6% so far. Another example of a stock that seemed to have high potential, but couldn’t at least maintain the same position is TripAdvisor Inc (NASDAQ:TRIP). The sales deceleration was indeed significant and resulted in a drop of almost 10% so far. Actually numerous other stocks that made headlines at the beginners of the year have been constantly underperformed during the first quarter. A few examples would be Zions Bancorp (NASDAQ:ZION) or Citigroup Inc (NYSE:C) which registered little to no progress while they were thought to soar. We cannot blame analysts or anyone for this misinterpretation because it is hard to predict the future dynamics objectively in all the cases, but many of the stocks that were on the high end of spectrum are now trying hard to break it even. From your observations, what are the stocks that have lost their ‘the best’ title during this quarter?
