Mr Enders is one of more than a dozen people being scrutinised by Austria’s public prosecutor, which in February launched a criminal investigation into Airbus’s defence arm and the international consortium that builds the fighter jets after new evidence was presented by the defence ministry. A spokeswoman for Vienna’s public prosecutor confirmed that Mr Enders, who ran Airbus’s defence division from 2000 to 2005, was now formally under investigation. “We can confirm there are a number of people,” she said. “Tom Enders is part of the investigation.”
