5 reasons why I should not ask my employees to do overtime

Most of the time people feel that doing overtime is the benchmark to show that the employee is hard working and giving a lot to the company. It is the mentality of both the employers and the employees that can be completed only by staying back. But, I feel that this is not true. If we plan our work well in advance, then we can leave the office on time. Most of the employees also work overtime to earn extra money.

The reasons why I should not ask my employees to do overtime

I can give several reasons and explanations for this. Here are a few of these reasons 

Spend some time with your family

I feel that employees should also spend good quality time with their family. Only with the families support a person can go ahead in life. Without family and friends, there is nothing in life. In the race of earning money, we usually do not spend quality time with our family and friends. So, I encourage my employees to go home early and spend a good time with their families. 

Value the importance of time

Most of the time the employees need to do overtime because either they do not know how to plan their work during the day. Employees should value the importance of time and should not waste their working hours. If they learn to plan their work, they can finish more work in less time.

Overtime is dogs work and not hard work

I feel that by doing overtime, employees are not doing any hard work. By doing overtime, the employees show that they do not believe in smart work and only believe in slogging themselves off. If the employees work hard during the working hours, they do not need to do overtime.

Relax yourself

The employees also need to some other activities other than working. They also need to relax and being a Digital Marketing Agency, this will help them to be creative. I feel that after going home on time, the employees should take out time for themselves and relax. They should do their favorite activities and soothe themselves. There is a saying in English “all work and no play make Jack a dull boy”. The same thing applies to the employees also. All work and no enjoyment make them dull and depressed. 

Take care of your health

If the employees keep on working over time, they get stressed out and tired. Most of the employees who do over time do not take care of their own health. When the employees do over time, they go home more tired, they go to bed late and then wake up early to come to work. Hence, less amount of sleep so more stress on the body and the overall health of the person. 

Also, if the employees work overtime and go home late, they tend to come to work the next day late. Hence, the entire work schedule and the productivity of the employee is disturbed.
