Can anyone explain to me what the difference between AlphaGo and Distributed AlphaGo is?

I understand that distributed AlphaGo uses more CPUs and GPUs, but beyond that, I'm not entirely sure what the distinction is. How is the distributed AlphaGo fundamentally different? I'm having trouble finding an explanation on the internet. Perhaps anyone has an explanation for me (which is comprehensible for someone who knows little about computers) or a good link to an explanation?
